it was the fourteenth of february. i was walking into school with some classmates laughin over some silly story. as i looked around, with a wide smile still plastered on my face, i noticed a girl, from grade 12, smiling at me. i was suprised really. maybe she had thought i was smiling at her. but it was a pleasent feeling..

smiles.

they do us a lot more good than we realize really. whether its your friends , your family, or your lover , a smile from them can brighten up your day.

but the most potent of these smiles really, is a smile recieved from a stranger. not one of those polite oh-ive-seen-you-somewhere-before smiles but a genuine -hello-im-a-stranger-but-hello-anyway smiles.

its sad how little people value those... its a rare moment in life where u have a stranger smile at you.heck, these days its considered extremely slutty for a girl to smile at a strange guy. this is understandable,i think, as this is perhaps brought out of our islamic roots. but the sad fact is, when a girl smiles at another girl or when a guy smiles at another strange guy, they are considered to be weird or worse, homosexuals.

whats wrong with people today? seriously. we are so wrapped up in our little dramas that we rarely give a thought to those around us.

so guys and gurls. do yourselves a favour and smile at a stranger. if your lucky, ull get a smile back. and ull be suprised at how pleasent it can feel.

Smiling in anywhere except the Maldives is okay. The people of this country are so sexually obsessed, that, yes, you're right. People have thought I was coming onto them a couple of times, when I was just being friendly.

Which is why I wear a frown now. -Mym

i agree with anonymous. i guess maybe its because from grade 6 onwards males and females are given different classes in schools. well apart from the few private ones. you need to be around/with the opposite sex to be comfortable around them and respect them for who they are. and ofcourse that will yield more smiles =)

    YEP.

i have another reason... the ppl in Maldives are just too stuck up/foni. OK OK now im just talking about the majority here. there are exceptions. dont start attacking me now.

    :P

anyways yeah i totally know what you mean... ive actually been getting quite a lot of those and been smiling back too. it's surely a great feeling :) (and that's not in Maldives).
