The Modern Woman.

for subcorpus.
notice the handbags :P

ps. these women, and some men, were sweeping the street infront of dharubaaruge early morning. and they [ the women] were all sporting similar handbags on their shoulders. made a funny sight. but handbags aside, three cheers for them for keeping our streets clean.

I can't help but imagine that if men had been hired to this work they would probably be using some sort of vehicle to do this... hmmm...

maybe they're gonna head to work immediately after cleaning up, & hence the handbags...

btw it wud've been nice if u got a man in the shot too. that'd be a topic by itself, a sign of modernisation. i haven't seen men & women cleaning up streets together...
