It occurs to me, while listening to "Wonderful Tonight" , that the reason the guy finds his wife so wonderful is just because she looked pretty that night.
Talk about trophy wives.

You dont really know what the woman looks like, the husband could be a besotted fool who loves the woman so much that he doesnt notice her flaws, and also thinks every one else finds her beautiful.
And I refuse to let another song be ruined for me : ( this comedian ruined Extreme's More than words, one of my all time faves, by saying that the guy's just duping the girl by saying he'll only belive she loves him if she sleeps with him, ie. he;ll needs "more than words" ! GRRRR!
i think Fali has a point. its the otherway round perhaps. he finds her wonderful (not just beautiful or kind..but wonderful..a strong word)that night.he notices certain things about her other than her appearance in the song. he says that she asks him "do I look all right?"..shows what he thinks matters to her,she want to be beautiful for him. later at the party people see this 'beautiful' lady...just that.just another beautiful lady. but HE sees more..
again...later she asks him "Do you feel all right?"..she somhow had a feeling hez not well (which later turns out to be true..coz he have an aching head).
then he clearly states why he feel so wonderful...

its the love.he knws she loves him and he loves her more than she can imagine.
after the party...she drives him home..she puts him to bed. the guy repeats to her how wonderful she was that night.maybe coz he is unable to express how he feels.its so strong.
hez happy coz his wife is beautiful.and happy other finds her beautiful too maybe.but thats not why he loves her.

maybe eric clapton or whoever wrote the song was a human and actually WAS trying to write a song.
when i say song, song means the lyrics have to be in an order, it should follow a guideline.
Maybe thats not the real meaning in the song, but the only way he could bring out what he wanted to say.
